Whittier Peninsula Redevelopment
Columbus, OH
This site is one of the last remaining large parcels of undeveloped land near downtown Columbus, Ohio. Located on the Scioto River and occupied for many years by warehouses and a vehicle impound lot, the City of Columbus recognized that this site is extremely important to the overall development of the area. Due to its proximity to the Scioto River, the Franklin County Metroparks will develop the site for passive recreational use, including a bird sanctuary. In addition, significantly sized tracts of land exist for additional residential and commercial development.
VWB Research entered into a contract to identify and complete a comprehensive analysis of the residential and commercial opportunities of the site. Included in this analysis were the identification of support for multifamily for-rent and for-sale opportunities, as well as opportunities for office and retail development. Because of the site's proximity to the Metropark, the City desires that the eventual development will be "sustainable" and "green," meaning that the design and operation of any development, at the subject site, must be environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
